STAMFORD CAMPUS
Art Gallery
Jill Gordon's African Scenes
On February 2016, Jill Gordon, local artist and UConn Stamford Art Gallery board member donated two marvelous paintings from scenes of Africa to the Stamford campus.
Leaving Home depicts an entire village fleeing with everything they can carry. There is a striking contrast between their grim circumstances and the brightly colored clothes worn by the women who forge ahead with such strength and pride.
Leading the Way portrays another proud, strong woman and her child who seems oblivious and happy as she carries on in her little western dress. It was probably worn by another little girl in Ohio, or Connecticut.
Both paintings are on permanent display, located on the 2nd floor corridor east side entrance near the elevators.
